Tit for Tat by Delilah Fawkes

Title: Tit for Tat
Author: Delilah Fawkes
Published By: Liquid Silver Books
Genre: Erotic Romance Short Story

Sara has always been a good girl, up until the two most notorious guys on campus ask her and her friend "Will you kiss for us?" The guys want to go tit for tat. If the girls perform for them, they'll give them the show of a lifetime. Can Sara muster the courage to play their seductive game?

Warning: This 3000 word story is for ADULTS ONLY! Bi-curiosity, f/f, m/m, voyeurism. May be too hot to handle! Are you ready to go tit for tat?

 My Thoughts:

This is a delightful little short story, and it is the perfect starting place for someone who has never read a f/f or m/m story.

I love the premise and title of this, I find that it makes it a little more fun. The cover suggests that it is more f/f but I can assure that it is evenly split between m/m and f/f. I will give you fair warning on this though. Do not go into this look for a fantastic story, background or character development. This is basically a quick and dirty read, where the sex regins supreme.  I did wish there were more to it, maybe a little more toward the set-up but these erotic shorts tend to be...extremely short.
The sex scene is wonderfully written and totally yummy, doesn't disappoint...except maybe that there isn't more of them. The characters are basically the typical college kids experimenting but I did enjoy the chemistry between Sara and her best friend, and how it changes.

This the perfect short spicy little read for those looking for a quick break.

Beowulf and Roxie by Marisa Chenery

Title: Beowulf and Roxie
Author: Marisa Chenery
Series: Wulf's Den (Book 1)
Published By: Liquid Silver Books
Genre: Erotic Romance

When Roxie and her friend, Candice, decided on a girls' night out, she didn't realize the Wulf's Den would be more than she had anticipated. But Roxie soon learned to expect anything. The presence of a super-abundance of super good-looking men surprised her and when the best of the bunch stared at her as if he wanted to devour her, surprise turned to amazement.
Beowulf recognized her as his mate the instant she crossed his path and her scent filled his lungs. But he had to overcome one hurdle. She was not one of his kind—a werewolf. He had waited for years to find his mate and he would claim her even if she was a mortal. He would soon teach her all about werewolves.
Roxie is caught up in strange events. Archaic markings appear on her wrist, and strong forces threaten to tear her away from her love as two other male werewolves try to claim her as their own. Would Roxie and Beowulf be able to keep the bond love had forged or would they lose each other forever?

 My Thoughts:

This was one of my first ventures into the world of erotic novels...I know, I know, I'm terribly late in the game but give me a break. When I first read this I found it to be damn near terrible, but then after I read more books I realized this was no where near the threshold of 'erotic' terrible.

There is one thing that automatically gets a star from me, and that's retelling of old tells...if you do it really well it may earn you two stars. So the concept of a Beowulf erotic novel caught my attention, and after I got over my slightly prudish ways I downloaded it and dug in. This is certainly not a book most people work to retell, and they certainly don't tend to tread where Chenery has boldly gone. It's a really creative look on the old tell and it has most of the elements. It even has Grendel! Though, while I'm on that point...I thought Grendel was an angry cheeseball. Not my favorite character at all. There is some decent character development, which is great in a book where you know the sex is inevitable. I did have issues with the main character Roxie. She has some serious issues standing by her own opinions, I understand denial and all..but come on girl! Get it together.
Another slight pet peeve of mine is when someone uses the same word a lot, in this case it's their names. When I talk to someone I do not say their name every time, it's...stupid. They know I'm talking to them. The writing did feel slightly off at times but it didn't really stop me from enjoying it, and by the end of the book it was pretty solid.

The heat level is certainly hot at times and doesn't disappoint. There was a tiny part involving a character named Royce that made me cringe and immediate hate him though. I personally could have done with out that little addition.
Overall it's a short, fast paced, and enjoyable read. I will probably look into getting the second one in the series.

The Siren and The Sword by Cecilia Tan

Title: The Siren and The Sword
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Series: Magic University (Book 1)
Published By: Ravenous Romance
Genre: Erotic Romance

Kyle Wadsworth arrives at Harvard eager to start his new life as a college student away from the cold and distant great-aunt who has raised him. But he walks into a building that only magical people can see, confusing both himself and the administrators of Veritas, the secret magical university hidden inside Harvard. There he first sees a beautiful girl who seems magical to him in every way. Soon Jess Torralva is tutoring Kyle in the ways of magic, sex, and love. But trouble is afoot at Veritas. Rumors abound that a siren is haunting the library, and when Kyle’s best friend is attacked, Kyle is determined to use his newly learned skills in erotic magic to catch the culprit. But which is more important, his quest for justice or his search for true love?

 My Thoughts:

So what do you get when you make Harry Potter more 'adult'? You get this book. It's perfect for those in Potter withdrawals but desire a little more...passion... from the characters. It has all the elements you need from the boarding school, to the teenage angst, to the oh-so-sensual art of magic. All packed into 200 pages.

The world that Tan creates has very obvious parallels to Potter, and she even openly admits to finding her inspiration in Rowling's world. Though the characters are certainly more adult. Meet Kyle Wadsworth, the sweet and mature new college student. He's a very cute character and very believable in the way he adapts to all the challenges he faces, serious and playful alike. Now add in a little Jess Torralva and shake things up a bit. She's sweet, charming, beautiful, and everything Kyle desires. You end up with a relationship that's believable and sweet, with a bit of naughty side.

The school is one that can easily be imagined and the classes are fairly realistic in their magical nature.  Of course there is the matter of the siren seducing and taking the lives of young men in the library, which added a nice little twist to the story that I wasn't expecting. Besides the obvious and (dare I say) blatant similarities to Hogwarts and Harry, it is extremely thought out. You have poetry, prophecy, sensual magic, and a murder mystery...how can you pass that up?

The sex scenes are not over-bearing or extremely vulgar but they are certainly there and hard to miss. It wastes no time at all really, I mean who needs to wait when you can have a bit of fun starting on page 2? I'm not kidding...it happens that fast, but it isn't rushed or cringe worthy. It makes sense.

It's a pretty fast paced book but unfortunately it is only 200 pages...and thus will leave you wishing there were more. I suppose it's a good thing there are two more in the series.
